Who we are
community group that develops the power to act of people who live with an intellectual difference, in the spirit of the innovative and inclusive concept of membership. At Compagnons, the members of the team are not prescribers of remedies, but prospectors of possibilities.
An important player in the community in the field of intellectual disabilities, the work of Compagnons de Montréal has been recognized more widely by receiving the 2018 Excellence Award from the MSSS in the "Support for vulnerable people and groups" category, then by winning the NOVAE award in 2020. Compagnons was also a finalist for the ESTim award from the East Montreal Chamber of Commerce in the "Social Purpose Organization" category in 2019 and 2021.

Who we are
Compagnons de Montréal is a non-profit organization that since 1960 has been providing a living, learning and inclusive environment that is stimulating for adults living with an intellectual disability or autistic disorder, through an approach that focusses on self-determination.

Our Values
Every human being has rights and responsibilities towards others.
Through its operations, Compagnons aims to promote respect in all spheres of activity: self-respect, mutual respect, respect for difference, respect for the work of others and respect for the environment.
Compagnons expects these values to be exercised by all team members, thereby setting a positive example in the community through their actions.
We define solidarity as a sense of responsibility and interdependence within a group. Problems encountered by one or more of its members are of concern to the entire group. Our approach broadly emphasizes that all people are part of the same community, which is an essential value that sustains collective action and encourages social justice. At Compagnons, we consider that it is possible to promote individual well-being while protecting collective well-being.
Innovation is essential to social justice, which constantly calls upon greater boldness and creativity. Compagnons is a learning organization, which means that it constantly pushes the boundaries of knowledge, challenges conventional models and dares to explore and create new areas of opportunity.
We recognize the people we support as full citizens, authors of their own destiny and vectors of change. Our approach of empowerment through participation places value on the individual, which has a positive impact on their self-esteem and self-confidence.
We also recognize the excellence, passion, commitment and dedication of our employees, volunteers and interns who work to achieve our mission. Compagnons expresses its gratitude at every possible opportunity, within its capacity and means.
